Selling Your Piano

If you are selling a piano, you may want to follow a checklist like this one:

  1. Have your piano professionally tuned and evaluated. This will help you determine a good selling price, and make sure there are no major or minor problems that will discourage a potential buyer.
  2. Decide where you want to list the piano for sale.
  3. When you write your ad, supply as much information as possible. Give the piano's make, model, serial number, age, size, and any other information that might be useful.
  4. Include photos! Pictures help greatly, especially for online listings. Take photos of the inside as well as the outside.
  5. Beware of scams. Sometimes you may be contacted by someone who doesn't seem to be who they claim to be, or they may want to pay for more than the asking price and then have you wire the extra funds back to them. Don't fall for this one!
  6. Wait for your buyer to come along. You can take delight in gaining some extra cash as you give your piano a new home, where it will be played and enjoyed for many more years.
