How Old Is My Piano?

It often quite simple to find out when a piano was manufactured. By looking up the serial number in a book such as the Pierce Piano Atlas, a piano technician can give the exact year in many cases (at least for most American brands and some foreign makes).

Most piano technicians will be able to help you find the serial number on your piano, or help you know where to look for it.

If you live in the USA or Canada, contact a Registered Piano Technician in your area and ask if he can look up a piano's year for you. Usually the make and serial number are enough information to go on.

To find a Registered Piano Technician in your area, go to www.ptg.org and click on "Find a Technician" in the yellow side bar.

If you live in Connecticut please feel free to e-mail me for help finding out your piano's age.
